Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN) provides specialized nursing care to adult inpatients and outpatients undergoing various interventional radiology procedures such as biopsies, embolizations, ablations, angiography, and drain placements. This role involves patient preparation, intra-procedure monitoring, post-procedure recovery including PACU and extended stay, and participation in critical embolization response for trauma patients. The IR RN collaborates with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, requiring critical thinking and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures.
• Monitor patients during procedures including biopsies, embolizations, ablations, angiography, and drain placements.
• Provide post-procedure recovery care in PACU and extended stay (23-hour) settings.
• Participate as a key member of the critical embolization response team for trauma patients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Adhere to infection prevention protocols including wearing hospital-issued and laundered scrubs in procedural areas.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience, including at least one year recent experience in interventional radiology.
• Telemetry experience.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system in interventional radiology or related specialty within the last year.

Special Considerations:

• Required to wear hospital-issued and laundered scrub pants and tops in procedural areas as part of infection prevention measures.
• Participation in on-call rotations as needed by the unit.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Scheduling:

• 40 hours per week, working four 10-hour shifts.
• Weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts required per unit needs.
• Rotating day and night shifts.
